No. Plans aren't needed to price most gardens. If it's a straightforward job and you already know what you want, the Free Quote covers it. If you'd like help working out what to build, we work the design out with you on site, and that's paid time: the $220 (incl. GST) Project Consultation, refunded if you go ahead with construction, or the $495 (incl. GST) Design Consultation, which finishes with a concept sketch plan. A full set of hardscape and softscape plans from a landscape designer can cost $5,000 or more, money that could go into the garden instead. If you do want full plans, for a large or complex site or just to see it all laid out first, our Landscape Design service draws them up.

The Free Quote is for when you already know what you'd like done. The $220 (incl. GST) Project Consultation (1 hour) is for getting a fixed picture of what a rough idea will cost before committing (no plans), and the $220 is refunded if you go ahead with construction. The $495 (incl. GST) Design Consultation (1.5 hours) goes further into ideas, materials, planting and design choices, and finishes with a concept sketch plan. Full design plans beyond that are the separate Landscape Design service, priced on application.

As a rough guide: smaller jobs like 30 square metres of basic paving, or 70 square metres of instant lawn, typically start from around $5,000 (incl. GST). Larger jobs (30 square metres of natural stone paving, or a small backyard build combining 30 square metres of lawn, 25 square metres of mid-priced paving, a brick mowing edge, basic irrigation, 35 plants and mulching) typically start from around $13,000 (both incl. GST), and complete garden builds cost well above that. Every job is still priced individually against site access, soil conditions and material choice, so a free quote is the fastest way to get a real number for your project.

Anywhere from a few days to 6-8 weeks, depending on the job. A small paving or lighting job is at the fast end, a complete garden build at the slower end.

Retaining walls over 1 metre and some pergolas or gazebos need council development approval in South Australia. Whether we handle that paperwork or you do depends on the job. We'll tell you upfront what's needed and work out who's doing what before construction starts.

We generally allow 2-3 months' lead time for larger jobs. Smaller jobs can normally be fit into our schedule reasonably quickly.
